"Holendry" (a Dutch type locality) is a colony established on an empty territory, in areas not very useful for agriculture. It was a type of locality characteristic for a "Dutch colonisation", which was a specific form of a settlement movement - widespread in the Commonwealth of Poland and Lithuania from 16th to 18th century. Granting uncongenial land difficult to cultivate or for animal husbandry to local people or (more often) immigrants inflowing from Flanders, German countries and Silesia was the core element of this process.
